Mercury WVS-20B: 25.5″ Front-Mount Squeegee Assembly for Storm 20-Gallon Vacuums
The WVS-20B is the front-mount squeegee assembly for Mercury Storm WVC-20 and WVP-20 wet/dry vacuums. It attaches to the front of the vacuum body and widens the effective water recovery pass from the standard hose-and-tool pickup area to a 25.5″ straight blade, reducing the number of passes needed to recover standing water from large floor areas. A step-down foot pedal raises and lowers the squeegee blade between passes without requiring the operator to stop and manually reposition the attachment.
WVS-20B Specifications and Compatibility
- Squeegee width: 25.5 inches — wider than the standard floor tool; covers more area per forward pass
- Mounting: Front-mount on the vacuum body — attaches without modifying the vacuum’s hose or tool connections
- Adjustment: Step-down foot pedal — raises and lowers the blade between passes while the operator continues moving
- Compatible models: Mercury Storm WVC-20 (chromed steel tank) and WVP-20 (poly tank) 20-gallon wet/dry vacuums
- Construction: Corrosion-resistant materials suitable for sustained wet floor environments
Where the WVS-20B Improves Wet Floor Recovery Efficiency
Without the squeegee assembly, the WVC-20 and WVP-20 recover standing water through the hand-held squeegee tool included in the 5-piece kit — an effective method for small spills and targeted wet pickup, but slow across large floor areas because the hand-held tool covers only 6–8 inches per pass. The WVS-20B changes the machine’s operating mode from hand-directed tool work to front-mounted sweeping: the operator pushes the vacuum forward, the squeegee blade directs water into the machine’s inlet path, and the blade lifts automatically on the return stroke via the foot pedal. A 25.5″ pass covers approximately three times the width of a hand-held squeegee tool per forward run, reducing water recovery time proportionally on flooded areas of 500 square feet or more. The assembly is most useful in facilities with hard-surface floors in large open areas — grocery stores, warehouses, loading docks, commercial kitchens, and gymnasium floors — where floor flooding from roof leaks, burst pipes, or heavy precipitation requires rapid large-area water removal.
Step-Down Foot Pedal Mechanism and Blade Management
The WVS-20B’s step-down foot pedal allows the operator to raise the squeegee blade off the floor surface without bending down or stopping the machine. On the forward pass, the blade contacts the floor and redirects water into the vacuum hose path. On the return or repositioning pass, a single step on the pedal lifts the blade clear of the floor so it does not drag backward against the direction of intended push. The blade returns to the floor position when the pedal is released at the start of the next forward pass. This mechanism eliminates the step of manually lifting and repositioning a hand-held tool at the end of each pass, which is where most of the time loss in manual wet floor recovery occurs. Replace the squeegee blade when it shows visible wear or cracking — a deteriorated blade leaves water streaks and requires more passes to recover the same water volume.
