Description

Continuous Isolation Room Pressure Monitoring: Abatement Technologies PPM3-S Manometer

The Abatement Technologies PPM3-S Portable Differential Pressure Monitor measures room pressure differentials from −0.1″ WC to +0.1″ WC (±25 Pa) at ±3% full-scale accuracy. Powered by a 3.7V lithium polymer battery with 16 days of continuous runtime, the PPM3-S is designed for long-duration ICRA compliance monitoring in hospital isolation rooms, negative pressure containment zones, and construction abatement sites. A 3.5″ 262K-color TFT touchscreen (320×240 resolution) displays real-time pressure with 0.0001″ WC / 0.025 Pa resolution, and all events are time-stamped and logged to a 2 GB USB flash drive in CSV format.

PPM3-S Specifications: Pressure Range, Alarms, and Data Logging

  • Pressure range ±0.1″ WC (±25 Pa): Covers the full span required for isolation room monitoring — negative pressure rooms typically maintained at −0.01″ WC (−2.5 Pa) relative to adjacent corridors
  • ±3% full-scale accuracy: Resolution to 0.0001″ WC / 0.025 Pa on a 3.5″ color TFT display with 320×240 pixels
  • Custom alarm set points: User-configurable from −0.1000″ WC (−24.884 Pa) to +0.1000″ WC (+24.884 Pa) at 0.0001″ WC resolution; audible alarm override for noisy environments
  • 16-day continuous battery life: 3.7V 2AH lithium polymer cell; recharges in 5 hours via included 6V DC charger (100–240 VAC, 50–60 Hz input)
  • 12,000+ logged events in non-volatile memory: Time-stamped log includes alarms, startups, resets, calibrations, config changes, and low-battery events
  • USB V1.0 Type A port: Downloads data as CSV file to included 2 GB flash drive; also supports firmware upgrades and optional thermal printer connection
  • Aux alarm connection: 6-position 3.5mm header with dual relays (normally open, normally closed, common); each relay rated 2A @ 30V DC — enables integration with building automation or auto-dialer accessories
  • Case: Ultra-tough molded polymer; 12″L × 10″W × 5″H; 5 lbs including charger and hose

Hospital Isolation Rooms, Cleanrooms, and ICRA Construction Monitoring

The PPM3-S is deployed wherever differential pressure must be continuously verified: negative pressure isolation rooms for airborne infection prevention, positive pressure rooms protecting immunocompromised patients, and ICRA Category III/IV construction zones where the CDC and ASHRAE 170 require documented negative pressure during active abatement or renovation work. Its 16-day battery runtime eliminates daily retrieval for recharging, and the non-volatile 12,000-event log means no data is lost even if power is interrupted unexpectedly. The color touchscreen allows nursing staff or infection control officers to read real-time pressure status without connecting to a computer, while the optional RPM-HANG wall mount keeps the unit secure and visible at the room entrance. For construction compliance, the USB log provides a dated audit trail that satisfies Joint Commission review of ICRA monitoring records.

Aux Relay Integration, Auto-Dialer Accessory, and Long-Term Deployment

Beyond standalone monitoring, the PPM3-S is designed as an integration point for facility-level alerting. The dual-relay aux alarm output (6-position 3.5mm header, rated 2A @ 30V DC each) allows the unit to trigger external systems — door access controls, nurse call systems, or BAS inputs — when pressure deviates from set thresholds. The optional PM-DIALER auto-dialer accessory connects to the aux port and sends text or voice notifications to up to four recipients when an alarm condition is detected, enabling 24/7 unattended monitoring without physical presence. Operating temperature range is −22°F to 176°F (−30°C to 80°C), and the lithium polymer battery maintains time-of-day accuracy on internal clock for up to one year in off mode, so logged event timestamps remain correct even across extended storage periods between deployments.
