19″ vs 21″ at 2,000 RPM — Choosing the Right Width

The GDC-19-2000 and BGDC-21-2000 use identical motors at the same RPM. The only operational difference is pad width: 19 inches versus 21 inches. The 21-inch model covers more floor per pass on wide-open institutional corridors, hospital wings, and airport terminals. The 19-inch model is easier to maneuver around floor fixtures, display cases, lobby furniture, and into alcoves where a 21-inch pad creates contact with wall edges or fixed objects. Facilities with primarily open floor plans should specify the 21-inch. Facilities with high obstacle density or frequent narrow turns should specify the 19-inch. Both produce identical 2,000 RPM high-gloss results on the same floor types.

High-Speed Burnishing Schedule Considerations

At 2,000 RPM, the GDC-19-2000 delivers maximum gloss restoration per pass, making it appropriate for facilities that burnish less than daily — weekly, bi-weekly, or as a restoration step after recoating. The higher RPM also provides faster gloss buildup on fresh finish applied after floor stripping and recoating, minimizing the number of burnishing passes needed before returning the floor to traffic. For daily maintenance burnishing programs where the floor never drops significantly below target gloss, the 1,500 RPM BGDC-19 is the sustainable specification. The GDC-19-2000 is the appropriate choice when each burnishing session needs to achieve maximum luster rather than maintain an already high gloss.
