BOSS-1 Floor Machine — Single-Machine Coverage Across Five Pad Sizes with Triple-Planetary Transmission

The Mercury BOSS-1 replaces the need for multiple floor machines by accepting five apron sizes — 13″, 15″, 17″, 19″, and 21″ — via a thumb-screw mount that swaps in under a minute. The 1.5 HP AC rectified motor and triple-planetary transmission deliver consistent torque at 175 RPM whether the operator is stripping a 21″ apron on a heavily waxed VCT floor or buffing with a 13″ pad in a tight restroom. At 90–107 lbs depending on apron selection, it stays planted without operator effort and handles the load variation between pad sizes without gear chatter or speed drop.

BOSS-1 RPM, Pad Pressure, and Compatible Pads

The BOSS-1 runs at 175 RPM — the standard low-speed range for spray buffing, scrubbing, and stripping on VCT, terrazzo, resilient flooring, and sealed concrete. At this speed and weight (90–107 lbs depending on apron), pad pressure is approximately 40–55 lbs depending on apron size selected. Compatible with standard round floor pads in each apron diameter: use black or brown pads for stripping, green for scrubbing, red for spray buffing, and white or tan for polishing. Optional Unicorn Weight Kit (5 × 10 lb weights, model UWK) adds downward pad pressure for heavy-strip applications. Optional 4-gallon polyethylene solution tank (model SST-4) with chemical-resistant hose enables wet scrubbing without a separate dispenser.
