Most odor and air treatment equipment requires you to evacuate the space. The HG1500 doesn’t. Hydroxyl radicals (·OH) are nature’s own atmospheric cleaner — they break down VOCs, bacteria, mold spores, and odor compounds the same way sunlight and humidity do outdoors. The HG1500 replicates that process indoors, safely, while people are present.

That’s the defining difference between hydroxyl and ozone technology. Ozone works — but it requires unoccupied space. The HG1500 can run 24/7 in occupied offices, clinics, hotel lobbies, and restoration job sites without displacing workers or tenants.

UVC + Photocatalysis: How Hydroxyl Generation Works

The HG1500 combines two technologies: a germicidal UVC lamp and a titanium dioxide (TiO₂) catalyst bed. UV light hitting the TiO₂ surface — along with ambient humidity — produces hydroxyl radicals. Those radicals react with and destroy organic pollutants in the air: aldehydes, ketones, terpenes, smoke compounds, bacterial cell walls, and mold mycotoxins. The byproducts are CO₂ and water vapor.

The carbon filter layer captures larger particulates and helps manage VOC load, extending the effective treatment zone. Replacement carbon filters and UVC bulbs are available separately (see HG1500 Maintenance Kit).
