Atlas Automotive Equipment

Atlas TPO-9 Overhead Two Post Lift
9,000 lbs. Capacity Clear-Floor Economical Light Duty

The Atlas TPO-9 Overhead Two Post lift is an economically designed overhead, clear-floor 2-post lift. The reliable chain-drive cylinders and dual safety system make this the perfect choice for “Mr. Homeowner” or small commercial shops looking to service cars, SUVs and light duty trucks. The TPO-9 has an overall height of 12 feet. The Atlas TPO-9 has symmetric columns and symmetric arms. The low pad height will allow the operator to position the lift arms under most small cars (with low pick up points) and heavier pickup trucks. The Atlas TPO-9 two post “chain over roller” lifts have a spring loaded Secondary Lock System (SLS) that automatically engages in the event of a slack or broken chain.

Automatic Arm Restraints
Automatic arm restraints are needed to keep the arm “locked” into a position relative to the carriage. When the arms are at rest in the lowest position, the arm restraint pin (which extends below the carriage) is pressed up and the lock (teeth) mechanism is disengaged. The operator can then move the arms so that the lift pads can be properly positioned under the vehicle’s lift points. Once the carriage is raised (approximately 2 inches) the lock is reengaged and the arms cannot be moved. However, the operator may pull the knob or metal ring to manually unlock the arms. Lock restraints do not guarantee that a vehicle cannot be “moved” off of the lift pads. Operator should use care when working on vehicles that have an abundant amount of undercoating (lift pads may “slide”) or a significant weight imbalance of the vehicle may occur due to removal of an engine or transmission. Also, “HEAVY wrenching” may result in a vehicle shifting weight on the arm pads. We recommend the use of tall jack stands under the vehicle to add another layer of safety.

Atlas TPO-9 Installation
The Atlas TPO-9 above ground lift should be installed on a concrete floor. This concrete floor should have a minimum of four (4) inches of concrete with 3000 PSI strength. Most of our above ground lift customers install their own car lifts. The average time to install the Atlas TPO-9 car lift is five hours. We provide detailed installation instructions with all our two post above ground lifts and our four post above ground lifts.

Electrical Requirements
The electric motor for the power unit requires 220 Volt (single phase) 60 Hz (+/- 5%, so 209-231 volts). We recommend using at least a 10 gauge (grounded) wire from the electrical panel. The power unit may or may not have a short pigtail (no plug) that can be wired to either an optional quick disconnect box (mounted on the lift column) or to a male/female plug combination. A 30 amp breaker is recommended.

Overhead Configuration
The overhead bar configuration leaves the floor area between the columns open, and allows the operator to easily roll a transmission jack or a tool box under the car.

Automatic Shut-Off Bar
The padded shut-off bar located below the cross beam prevents the top of the vehicle from being damaged by hitting the cross beam. The padded bar, which contacted automatically shuts off the motor on the power unit to prevent the vehicle from being lifted.
